Rishikesh is one of the most prominent pilgrimage spots in India. It is considered to be of religious and spiritual significance for many reasons. It lies at the foothills of the awe-inspiring Himalayas and is, believed to be the abode of the Hindu god Shiva. The river Ganga, considered sacred by the Hindus, flows through it. It is home to many temples, both ancient and new. Moreover, it has for long been associated with yoga and meditation and has numerous centres that propagate the same.
